Have you been searching for natural homemade acne treatments? Well, look no further. Here you’ll find out about the best natural remedies for acne; that are chemical free. The editors of Natural Old Home Remedies have found and tried several natural herbal remedies for acne. The benefits of natural acne cures are endless, but most important they are free of toxic medications. Click here to learn How To Have Healthy Skin.

At Natural-Old-Home-Remedies.com you’ll find homemade cleansers, facials, and homemade acne treatments that can easily made from ingredients found in your own kitchen. Making your own natural remedies for acne can help you avoid side effects and the high cost of prescription acne medicine.

Natural Acne Cures – Clean and Scrub Acne breakouts start when excess bacteria and oil clog up the pores and follicles. So keeping the skin clean and the pores clear is very important. The problem is too many people (in effort to overcome excess oil) wind up over-washing and over-drying the skin causing even more oil production and more breakouts. That’s why you must use a pH balanced; soothing herbal based gentle face wash. Using harsh cleansers is the most common reason for acne to become even more severe.

In addition to a pH balanced cleanser, you need to exfoliate to get rid of dead skin cells and clear open the pores. One great natural facial scrub is a combination of baking soda and water or sugar and water. Mix small amounts of water to a handful of sugar or baking soda until you have a paste-like consistency. Lightly massage this paste all over your face about once week. Your skin will feel incredible! This is also great for acne scar healing and reducing the appearance of fine lines. It is advisable to test this out on a small area of skin first and see how it reacts.

Homemade Acne Treatments – Facial Masks Facial masks can be very healing for acne prone skin. Here is one to try if you have oily skin: Oily Skin – Egg White Lemon Acne Mask – Beat two egg whites. Then add 2 teaspoons of lemon juice. – Use a cotton ball to apply this mask where you have acne breakouts. Let it dry, then rinse it off with cool water. – Apply a specially formulated acne moisturizer if your face feels dry.

Dry Skin – Pineapple Honey Acne Mask Many acne sufferers have dry skin, not oily and must address this issue carefully. Too much oil and you can aggravate the skin. Try this unusual cleansing mask is very helpful for inflamed dry skin. This mask uses honey and pineapple – which both contain natural enzymes that exfoliate dead skin cells and clean the pores without over drying. Honey is also a great oil free moisturizer. Click here for this great Dry Skin Pineapple Honey Acne Mask recipe. This mask can be used by anyone who wants a great glowing skin. Once you try this …… You’ll be hooked!

Severe Acne Treatment – Use Salicylic Acid Acne While all natural treatments are great sometimes we all need a more convenient natural acne treatment that we use daily or when we travel. Consider using a natural sugar based glycolic/salicylic acid acne treatment daily. These acids are very powerful (yet still gentle to the skin) in dissolving clogged pores, excess oils and reducing whiteheads/blackheads. They can also help to minimize pores and wrinkles/fine lines, and stimulate collagen production. Visit Natural Old Home Remedies for more information.

Stop by Natural Old Home Remedies where you can find out all about How To Have Healthy Skin Naturally and what it can do for you.

Jock itch is a fungal infection. It is named because it affects many male athletes. But anybody can get Jock itch that causes infection in the genital, anal and upper leg areas of the body.

Jock Itch- What is it?

This is a ringworm type of skin infection that mainly affects the groin area of both the sexes, especially males. Red patches that itch severely, form in the groin area in jock itch. A fungus causes this condition. Jock itch is treated with standard anti-fungal medications. Lets find out what is it and how can you take care of yourself, if you get jock itch.

Jock Itch- symptoms

The first symptom of jock itch is itching in the groin area. The itching is mostly confined to the area near anus, inner thighs and surrounding skin. You may develop red patches with defined darker borders. The patches form scales, are raised and may also ooze. The patches are ring shaped and the color is darker on the edges than on the center.

Your doctor will most probably be able to diagnose jock itch by observing the affected skin. If there is doubt, a biopsy may be done and the fungus will be identified.

Some other diseases that may also cause itching in the groin area are psoriasis, eczema, seborrhoeic dermatitis, candida infections and some other conditions. It is always advised to get a proper diagnosis made by a doctor before you use any anti-fungal over the counter (OTC) medicine. We will look at the causes in the next article.

Has it ever went into remission?

No, I’ve had no luck with the sun, even though I have seen marked improvement in the summertime. However, I have had more luck with yogurt as a homeopathic treatment (I have mine in my scalp) than any of the other meds that I have been prescribed. I usually spread the yogurt mix over my head, put plastic over it and then put tinfoil over my head, leave it on for twenty minutes and wash my hair two or three times to get the yogurt out. Messy and a bit smelly , it works like a charm, and was recommended to my by my dermatologist. Hope this helps.

When you have psoriasis, your skin cells run amok. While it normally takes about 30 days for new cells to reach the surface of your skin, in psoriasis they surface in just 3 days – much too fast to be shed. These out-of-control skin cells form plaques – pink, raised patches covered by silvery white scales.

Experts aren’t sure what the psoriasis causes are, but they do know it tends to run in families and most commonly hits in the teen years or middle age. Psoriasis tends to ebb and flare, although obesity, stress, smoking, certain drugs (Quinidine, a heart medication, and Inderal, a high blood pressure medication, to name two) or even a simple infection like a sore throat can aggravate outbreaks. Or you could go years without a flare-up; that’s the nature of this chronic but very unpredictable condition.

Psoriasis can be mild or extremely severe. Fortunately, most people escape with a few small patches on their elbows, knees or scalp. About 90 percent of people with psoriasis will also develop a form of arthritis associated with psoriasis that resembles rheumatoid arthritis.

Rx Mission: Remission

Having a doctor monitor your condition can make it easier for you to cope with psoriasis – emotionally as well as physically. “Everyone with severe psoriasis should get medical help,” says Albert M. Kligman, M.D., Ph.D.

The three most common treatments for psoriasis are topical treatments (applied to the skin), light therapy (called phototherapy) and oral drugs. Topical treatments, including steroids, calcipotriene (a cream-based derivative of vitamin D) and anthralin, reduce scaling and inflammation. Phototherapy, or exposure to ultraviolet-B light, helps clear psoriasis, while another form of light therapy, PUVA (psoralens and ultraviolet-A light), reduces cell growth. Oral drugs like methotrexate and cyclosporine also inhibit cell growth and reduce inflammation.

The treatments that work best, however, may also cause serious side effects. Taken in excess, methotrexate may cause liver disease, while PUVA ups the risk of skin cancer and steroids can thin the skin and occasionally aggravate the psoriasis itself. Moreover, the effectiveness of these treatments tends to decrease over time as your skin builds up a resistance to them for psoriasis causes.

To lower the risks and heighten effectiveness, these treatments are often juggled or used in alternating combinations – a strategy called rotational therapy. “Psoriasis can go into remission with any of these treatments, but the goal is to find combination treatments that make the remissions last longer,” says Alan Menter, M.D., clinical director of the National Psoriasis Tissue Bank at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas and chairman of the dermatology department of that university. Currently under development are a vitamin A-based gel that eases psoriasis without the side effects of steroids and a topical version of methotrexate, which may be less risky, since less of the drug is absorbed through the skin.

Skin: Ayurveda describes the skin as one among the “PANCHANHANENDRIYAS”. We feel with our skin. The skin is the most exposed part of our body and is hence the most affected area of our body. It is more prone to diseases since the dirt, grime, polluted air and exhaust from the vehicles all gets accumulated here. Hence skin is to be given proper care.

The things that affect the skin:

Changes in weather: Often we have to go out. The summer takes the toll on the exposed part of the skin and heat tends to darken the skin. Tan is often good. But overexposure to sun can cause even small-scale burns and blackening. Hence the part that is more often exposed to sun becomes dark whereas that part of the skin, which remains under the dress, retains the original color. People often complain about this change in color especially on the face. Lot of sunscreen lotions is available in the market and is prescribed for this problem. Winter poses another problem- dryness of the skin. The skin becomes dry during the winter season, which often leads to the ageing. The skin looks old due to the dryness. Companies manufacture and market lot of lotions specially made for this purpose.

Atmospheric pollution: Since we are living in an era of pollution, many diseases which were not heard of earlier are very common nowadays. As mentioned in the introduction, the exhaust fumes coming out from the vehicles and dirt and grime affect the skin. The skin loses its glow after some time. It is a very difficult task to preserve the glow and texture of the skin.

Ailments: Various skin ailments are on the rise these days. Of these the most common ones are Luekoderma and Psoriasis. Both were very rare earlier but are quite common now days. In Luekoderma , the body is not able to produce a pigment called “MELANIN” which gives the skin its characteristic colour and thus certain parts shows white patches which is prominently seen. It looks like disfigurement in some cases especially when it is seen in the face. This has become common irrespective of the climatic conditions or the places we live in. Equally seen is Psoriasis. The number of patients suffering from these diseases is on the high. People suffering from psoriasis often develop allergy like itching and blemishes on the skin. These are often seen as small spots, which gradually spread to other parts of the body. Treatment would be more effective if started in the initial stages. These have no effective cure in Modern Medicine other than intake of steroids. Ayurveda relates these to the vitiation of humors like “VATA” , “PITTA” and “KAPHA”. Treatments such as “VAMANA” or emesis, “VIRECHANA” or purgation are recommended. These treatments help in detoxifying the body.

The changes in lifestyle: The changes in the lifestyle and the use of chemicals affect the skin a lot. Extensive use of soaps, shampoos and the like causes dryness. The skin of some people is extremely sensitive and bleaching and other beauty therapies cause blemishes on the skin. We do not have the time to take care of the skin these days and hence the skin looks old very easily due to the lack of proper care. Extensive use of makeups results in premature ageing. Our grandmothers knew how to take good care of the skin with oils and other natural herbs

Food: Use of fried food is on the increase now days. People have no time for a regular meal and they often end up eating junk food from the roadside. Often children take these fries, which comes in packet for their snacks to school daily. The use of these may cause eruptions on the skin. To have a good skin one must include a lot of leafy vegetables, fruits etc in their menu.

Tension: Stress and tension has become a part of our modern day life. Hypertension is the most common disease. This leads to numerous ailments, which can also affect the skin.

Remedies: Ayurveda recommends “ABHYANGA” or oil bath. Oil bath is the most effective medicine. It acts as a tonic for the skin. Massaging the body with oil and then washing it off with herbs like gram flour, besan, rita, amla etc can work wonders on the skin. This will help to have a glowing skin and also acts as a precaution for skin ailments. From childhood itself it is recommended to use oil on the baby and have a herbal wash. Including leafy vegetables is essential for good skin. Drink lot of water and wash the face with water as many times as possible. Fruits like pappaya, cucumber etc can be pulped and applied to get a glowing skin. Honey prevents ageing of the skin and it also helps in easy healing of wounds. Turmeric is an antiseptic and also enhances skin colour. Henna leaves pasted with a little turmeric and betel leaves were used for applying mehendi on the hands and feet before. Apart from beautifying purpose, this also was good for the skin. This paste when applied on the feet helped to control fungus infection during rainy seasons.

There are numerous remedies mentioned in Ayurveda for skin care but above all, a healthy mind is necessary for a healthy skin.

When psoriatic arthritis is suspected, doctors will generally perform a number of tests to rule out other conditions. There is, however, no single specific test to help medical professionals arrive at a diagnosis of psoriatic arthritis.

Some of the tests patients with suspected psoriatic arthritis can expect to undergo include such things as:

A basic, thorough examination – This will include a family history to determine a connection and also an exam to see if psoriasis is present. Inflammation in one or more joint will also be looked for. It is often difficult to distinguish between rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic, so doctors will look for the connection with psoriasis in both the patient and his or her family.

Blood tests – A battery of blood tests to look for such things as rheumatoid factor will likely be conducted, as well.

Treatment Of Psoriatic Arthritis

As it is with most other forms of arthritis, the psoriatic type is treated on a symptomatic basis. Doctors will treat both conditions, however. Some common treatment options include such things as:

Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs to reduce the stiffness and pain;

Disease modifying anti-rheumatic drugs to stop damage from happening;

Injected steroids to reduce symptoms in individual joints;

Ointments to treat psoriasis of the skin.

Doctors may also recommend a number of home care methods to help reduce pain and inflammation, they include such things as:

Weight loss and maintenance – This can help lessen the stress on joints and increase mobility.

Exercise – This can assist in reducing the fatigue and pain often associated with arthritis. It can also help maintain range of motion.

Heat and cold packs – These can assist in lessening the pain in specific joints.

The exact methods to treat this condition will depend on the specific case at hand. Some patients will require very little medical assistance, but others might find symptoms so severe that drug regimens will become necessary. In extreme cases, surgery might be recommended to correct some of the damage caused by psoriatic arthritis.

Psoriasis can be treated and cured naturally – there’s no doubt in my mind. About 2 years ago I was skeptical, but I spent a long time speaking to people, reading books and finding out about the condition for my father who suffered from incredibly bad psoriasis on his scalp, elbows, knuckles and back. His psoriasis was unsightly, flakey and dent his self confidence – it was basically controlling his life – he tried not to let it get in the way but it was always there in the back of his mind especially in a crowd of people.

Last year, we cured his psoriasis. And we did it completely through conventional means.

What you need to know

Firstly, when you find out what is causing the toxic build up in your body and you eliminate that cause then the psoriasis will stop forming.

Secondly, toxic build up can be caused by a long list of things and so it’s going to take some time and work to figure out what is causing your psoriasis. Blood tests can help but there is no hard and fast way to know what is causing the toxic build up. Therefore you need to be patient enough to experiment and work through the possibilities by process of elimination.

Thirdly, diet in most cases is directly related to psoriasis because the number one cause of toxicity in the majority of people is a bad diet. When my dad went onto an all organic and majority raw unprocessed diet the psoriasis improved 20% within one week and continued to get better for months thereafter.

Fourthly, when you get rid of your psoriasis the natural way, you’ll know enough about the condition to keep it away and to that effect it is a complete cure. Drugs from the doctors will not cure the condition and what’s more they have unwanted side effects.

My fifth point, drink a bucket load of water to wash away the toxic residue on a daily basis. My dad had one pint immediately on waking up, one at lunch time and one before bed with numerous quarts in-between. This is the simplest effective way of flushing those toxins away.

Finally, it’s likely that you’ll need to consider some kind of internal colon cleansing. My dad cleansed his colon, liver and kidneys and watched his psoriasis disappear. Furthermore, other aspects of his health greatly improved to. Do not underestimate the power of internal organs that are functioning at full capacity, filtering out those harmful toxins instead of forcing them through the skin.

Your Next Steps – You’ll need to learn about the specifics of what I’ve mentioned in this article. We used a number of psoriasis cure books for our research but one that gave us the information that eventually turned out to work is called Psoriasis Free for Life. There is a review about the product here. If you’re patient and you follow the steps outlined in the book then you have every chance of curing your psoriasis too.

The irritating skin patches caused by psoriasis can sometimes be controlled with over the counter topical psoriasis creams, especially in cases of mild psoriasis. Psoriasis that is more severe may require prescription creams along with other forms of treatment.

Two ingredients that are common in psoriasis creams are tar and salicylic acid. Both of these are approved by the FDA to treat this skin condition.

Salicylic acid treats psoriasis by causing the top layer of skin to peel off of the psoriasis skin patches. Salicylic cream works to soften the scaly skin so it lifts away.

This psoriasis cream has the potential to cause complications if it is used too long or over large parts of the body. For one thing, it can damage hair shafts and cause temporary hair loss in the area. Used excessively, salicylic acid can cause skin irritation. It is often combined with other medications like coal tar or corticosteroids in order to increase the effectiveness of the cream.

Coal tar is a long time component of psoriasis cream. Coal tar is the byproduct of petroleum products and coal. It works to help reduce itching, scaling, and inflammation. There appear to be few side effects with coal tar use except that it has a strong odor and can stain clothing and bedding.

The potency of coal tar products vary according to the concentration. Over the counter psoriasis creams usually contain between 0.5 to 5 percent coal tar. When strong concentrations are used, the skin can become overly dry. This can be prevented by applying a moisturizer before applying the coal tar.

Using coal tar might also cause the skin to be more sensitive to the sun so it is a good idea to wash the tar off and apply sunscreen before going into the sun.

Better psoriasis creams contain other ingredients which act to soothe and moisturize the skin. These include jojoba, zinc, capsaicin, and aloe vera. If your psoriasis does not respond well to over the counter psoriasis creams, be sure to talk to your doctor.

Prescription creams are also available that contain other medications as well as higher concentrations of coal tar and salicylic acid that is not available otherwise.

When using over the counter prescription creams, be sure to follow the label directions carefully to reduce your risk of complications. For example, products with salicylic acid should not be used over large areas of skin or the body can absorb too much of the medication.

Also, do not combine over the counter creams with prescription creams without your doctor’s knowledge as this can cause skin irritation or the medications could interact with each other in a negative way.

It is a good idea to test a new psoriasis cream on a small portion of your skin for a couple of days before using it over large areas of your body. This will allow you to test for your reaction to the cream and to discover if you have allergies to any of the ingredients.

Always note the percentage of the active ingredient whether it be salicylic acid or coal tar as psoriasis creams that have higher concentrations may be more irritating than you are used to.

Over the counter psoriasis creams can be easily purchased online as well as at drug stores and many grocery stores. They are affordable and safe to use if application directions are followed. They are milder than prescription creams and are a first choice for relief from the itching and scaling that is associated with this skin condition.
