psoriasis treatments for children

Many women (and even men) worry about the possible inheritance of their psoriasis problem in their offspring. It is common to see a natural unwillingness among many women and men to get married with a fear of spreading the disease in their children.

Family History Is a Single Factor

Although genetic predisposition is believed to be one of the primary triggering factors in developing the symptoms of psoriasis, but just because parents (either one) diagnosed with psoriasis problem does not necessarily mean having psoriasis children after delivery.

Basically, psoriasis is caused by impaired immune system and many factors such as viral infection, drug abuse, stress, environmental factors can contribute to the development of such problem. Obviously, the problem is backed by genetic predisposition.

However, family history as a single factor cannot trigger such problem. So if you are a mother having psoriasis, you must understand that it is not a rule having psoriasis children just because you have it in you.

Does Family History Only Matter?

On the other hand, there are reports documented where family history plays no part, but still the mother gave birth to a psoriasis child. Without having any evident family history, it is possible to give birth of psoriasis children. How? It is because of the impaired immune system caused due to other factors as mentioned above.

In fact, psoriasis is not a contagious disease, so spreading via sexual contact is also not possible. However, if you are suffering from severe form of psoriasis, it is up to you to get married or to have children. Definitely, your children may have at risk of developing psoriasis in later life, if not earlier. But this is not a rule of having psoriasis children after delivery.

Whatever be the condition, since the actual cause of impaired immune system responsible for developing psoriasis is still unknown, there is no cure. But definitely you can manage psoriasis symptoms in you and in your psoriasis children by choosing effective treatment.

Psoriasis………….anyone?

I have had psoriasis for the past year, well KNOWN I’ve had it. I had it before but thought it was eczema. The doctors keep putting me on new treatments, but every time they do my psoriasis gets worse. Please does anyone know of any herbs/mineral/vitamins that work well? Or any other tips that I can try. I’m getting to the end of my rope it feels like, depression is setting in quite a lot. I’m 28 and I have three children and I’m going to be getting married soon. I feel like a monster and I think it might be taking a toll on my life and everyone in it.

I’ve had some success using a over the counter product that I picked up recently at the local drug store. It’s called “Skin Zinc”. It has both a spray and a cream so it works well both on my skin and on my scalp under my hair. I’ve given up on prescriptions at least for the time being, I’ve quite responding to the ones my docs had me on and I’m not comfortable going on immuno-suppressant meds. I’ve also found that lotions etc that are very thick help – body butters, vaseline etc.
